Hogan's Claim

  • Mood:
Snows still present in PP Valley, but Ken and I decided to try out a new claim. We shall call it the Hogan's claim, for as of now we don't want anybody to know where this place is till we explore more of it. Ken had found a seam of GOLD earlier that week and we decided to check it out further. Well, like all gold legends, it seemed to have disapeared! But with tools in hand, we beat the mountain till we found another outcrop. The ore looks good but still needs to be assayed.  Pictures are posted, so check it out and make a comment at the FORUM.  The hike itself was tough for we had to forge streams, climb steep rock faces, and battle with the heat. (Oh, yes, summer is here!)  With the help of our metal detectors, we discovered a  very old miners camp which seems to be untouched! Not much left of their dwellings except for the indentations in the ground and river rock foundations. But enough to map out the site. Also found one of the dump sites that confirmed the age of this old claim. OLD! We shall resume our adventure this coming Saturday.
